Soursop, large, spiny, fruit cauliflorous which may weigh up to 6 pounds (3 kg). Unlike jackfruit, it belongs to the custard apple family (Annonaceae) and is native to tropical America. Soft, ripe Soursops mostly used for ice creams and sherbets, such as custard or meat can be eaten fresh (preferably cold).
The soursop has a prickly exterior and pulp fleshy, many-featured. It is the fruit of large aggregates or sinkarp than some fruit because the aggregation carpels (pistils) develops from a single flower.
